Mauritius is a small island located in the Indian Ocean, off
the east coast of Madagascar. Mauritius Island has only one
International Airport, The Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam
International Airport. The International airport is located
near Plaisance in Plaine Magnien in the South eastern part
of the island. The airport of Mauritius is also known as
Plaisance International Airport.The airport is about forty
five minutes from the capital of Mauritius Port
Louis. Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam was a very important person for
Mauritius Island; he brought the island to independence in
1968 and did a lot for the country.

In 1999 the airport was expanded and redeveloped at the cost
of twenty million dollars and was completed in 2000. The
airport is also the base of Air Mauritius.
The International Airport building consists of a single
storey with a parking.
