Electricity is distributed in
Mauritius by the CEB, Central Electricity Board. The CEB has
the monopole in the country; there is no other company in
Mauritius that distributes electricity.
In this case the price of electricity in Mauritius is quite
high. Each year the CEB is getting the price higher.
Electricity is produced for over 1.2 million inhabitants.
The tariffs are different for domestic use and business use.
The electricity distributed is of 220 volts.
There is still in Mauritius people who don’t have
electricity, they still live with candles at night as light.
It is just because they can’t pay an electricity bill.
Mauritius still has a large number of poor people.
