In Mauritius children must go to
school. You would be against the law if you do not send your
child to school. There is in Mauritius mainly two types of
schools, private and government schools.

The government schools of the island
are mainly financed by the government and are also known as
public school. Private schools are not free charge. Nowadays
there is more and more Mauritian sending their children to
private schools. Children learn in school both English and
French and some learn also oriental languages as Hindi, Urdu
or Mandarin. But the main language is English. The system of
education is based mainly on British as Mauritius was in the
past ruled by the British.

for primary it is as from 6 years old and secondary as from
