Mauritius is
located in the Indian Ocean, it is small island and a little
point on the world map.
As in many other
countries drugs is of course found in Mauritius. But don’t
forget it is illegal.

Most of the drugs
are usually imported and it is illegal to do so because you
are against the law and may get in big trouble with the
police in Mauritius. Mauritian law punishes severely the
traffic of illegal drugs in the country.
Main drugs you may
find in Mauritius is marijuana as the country has the
weather for the cultivation of these plants but don’t worry
the police makes a lot of control and surrounds the island
with helicopters to discover where are planted “gandia”
plants, as they call in Mauritius, may be found.

easily found as it is a plant which needs a lot of sun so
those cultivating can’t hide it too much.
Heroin which is
known as brown sugar or opium in the island is found in the
country, even with sever controls at customs some people are
able to come through and bring heroin in the country.
Sometimes there are
some travelers found with cocaine but not very often.
Ecstasy pills are
also becoming very common in Mauritius mostly found in the
surrounding of night clubs and discotheques of the island.
Most Mauritian who
takes drugs are under brown sugar because it seems being the
less expensive drugs in Mauritius. Opium is also sometimes
cultivated on the island.
But Opium is a drug
where you get physically addicted. Those started to use
these drugs will be addicted for almost their whole life and
some will die of it. Opium is a type of drug mainly when
injected react very quickly in the body and those people
will tell you they feel themselves high and cool, they
forget all their problems. But as soon as the effects is
gone the body ask for it again and with time for more and
more. It is the same for the smokers who need a certain
amount of nicotine in their body.
It is very
difficult to get someone out of hard drugs as opium, heroin
unless they really want it from their own and it will need a
lot of courage.
So never try to
bring illegal drugs to Mauritius you will be severely
punished by the laws, just stay away from it.
