There is not a girl that has a typical Mauritian look. Mauritius population is a real melting pot; the Mauritian girl is mixture often of different nations. In the past Mauritius was a desert island before found by the Portuguese.

 

In the time, the French and English colonized the island they brought slaves from Indian and Africa which started to be the first population of Mauritius when slavery was abolished. The Chinese nation came too but mainly to make commerce on the island.

 

After some time some Chinese nation decided to immigrate in Mauritius even though they had a wife in China. They married Creole or Indian girls sometimes and like this started the mixture of culture. The white, as the slaves called them, also sometimes had affairs with the girls working as slaves in the fields and had kids which were again a mixture.


So that’s why there is no typical Mauritian girl. A Mauritian girl is often a mixture of different nation.


There is a lot of Europeans who like Mauritian girls, often they come over to find a girl to marry. Mauritian girls are different to Europeans girls, Mauritian girls are said to be more conservative. They think different more helpful in the house, think more of the family.


European girls think of them first and want to be equal to men but in Mauritius, there are still a lot of girls thinking like the women from 50 years ago that girls should be married, stay at home, take care of their husband and children; this is what the European men like in Mauritian girls.
