Mauritius Animals |
Mauritius is a tropical island located in the Indian
Ocean near Rodrigues and Reunion islands. Mauritius
is a beautiful island surrounded with a beautiful
blue turquoise lagoon and white sandy beaches. There
is in Mauritius no dangerous animals found. The main
problem of the island is usually the dogs which are
everywhere on the streets everywhere trying to
find food anywhere they can and make disorder.
With the weather of a tropical island as Mauritius
there are lots of small animals and insects as mosquitoes,
cockroaches, ants, lizards or geckos and spiders but
nothing poisonous.
The small geckos are quite good
as pets if we can call them pets, just because they
eat the small insects and mosquitoes found in your
house.
There is also on the island some scorpions
species but they are not dangerous at all.
There is also in Mauritius some animals considered
as endangered species as the Mauritius Pink Pigeon.
The dodo is a bird that is now an extinct species.
The
dodo existed very long time ago. The dodo was a
flightless bird which could be easily captured. Most
of the dodos have been captured by the Dutch who
settled on the island and the rest were of the dodos
and their eggs have been eaten by the animals, pigs
and rats which have been introduced on the island
the Dutch.
So
no worries when coming to Mauritius Island, you will
not find any dangerous animals around, just take
some mosquito cream against the mosquitoes. Or else
come and enjoy the blue sea and white sandy beaches
of the island.
