The Mauritius Wildlife Foundation
exactly known as The Mauritian Wildlife Foundation is a non
profitable organization located in Mauritius which is
concerned in conservation of endemic fauna and floral of the
country.

In the past, the organization was known as The Mauritian
Wildlife Appeal Fund and was created in 1984 under the help
of Gerald Durrell and the Jersey Wildlife Preservation
Trust.
The first program when the foundation was created was mainly
concerned about the Pink Pigeon and the Mauritius which were
two species considered as endangered as they were almost
extinct species.

For the moment, the foundation is working on different
species to conserve as the Echo Parakeet, Rodrigues Fruit
Bat, Mauritius Fody, Mauritius Bulbul, Mauritius Olive White
eye, Telfair’s Skink, Bojer’s Skink, Mauriitus
Cuckoo-shrike.
The Mauritian Wildlife Foundation is working on predator and
pest control. They also have captive breeding programs for
extinct species and endemic plant nurseries.
These works are being done in the Black River Gorges
National Park, on Round Island, Ile aux Aigrettes and
Rodrigues Island.
