Mauritius CWA Water |
The CWA is the
Central Water Authority of Mauritius Island.
The Central Water
Authority is responsible for the development, control and
conservation of treatment, distribution and water resources
of industrial commercial and domestic purposes throughout
Mauritius Island.
The Central Water
Authority works under the aegisof the Ministry of Public
Utilities.
In Mauritius every
consumer receives a CWA bill every month which need to be
paid within 21 days of the receipt date of the bill.
Water price is very cheap
compared to the water price in Europe. But for a
poor Mauritian family not earning lot of money the
price is is expensive.
For those who decide to reside in
Mauritius coming from European countries find that
the living costs are quite low.
Water is
not received twenty hours a day in Mauritius, mainly
during summer time, there is a lot of problem of
dryness.
The CWA
closes the water from morning until afternoon around
3p.m. or 4p.m.
As from
this time people get water from CWA directly or else
whole the water comes from a big tank thatmost of
the Mauritius have which is filled with water or
else it would be a big problem.
If a bill is paid
after the 21st day there is a surcharge
applicable which is of 10%.
The pensioners of
the island are allowed 14 days longer without any surcharge.
Payment can be made
directly at the different CWA cash offices, through Direct
Debit System, and at the post offices.
The main office of
the Central Water Authority is located at St Paul, Phoenix.
