On this picture you can see the
crater of the extinct volcano of Trou aux Cerfs located in the
town of Curepipe which is itself located in the district of
Plaines Wilhems. Mauritius Island is divided into nine
districts. The crater of the volcano is around one hundred meter
deep. The Trou aux Cerfs volcano has been formed millions years
ago by a volcanic activity. The dormant volcano is one of the
main attractions tourists visit in Curepipe. At the top of the
volcano visitors will discover a fascinating view of part of
Mauritius. It is even said that when the weather is clear the
coast of Reunion Island can be seen. There are interesting
places to be seen when you are visiting Curepipe as the
Botanical Gardens, the Ste Therese Church, St Helene Church, The
Millennium Tower, the Royal College, Le Forum where takes place
