Vishnu forms parts of the Great
Trinity or the Trimurti as known in Sanskrit. Vishnu is also
known as Narayana. The consort of Vishnu was Lakshmi. Vishnu is
considered as having a Universal in the Bhagavad Gita. Bhagavd
Gita is a text from a chapter Bhishma Parma which comprises of
seven hundred verses. Vishnu has also ten avatars. Vishnu is
also seen with as ornament a serpent around his neck. Vishnu is
one of the most worshipped deities in Hinduism. Statues of
Vishnu can be seen at Grand Bassin in Mauritius; the place is
considered as sacred for the Hindus and is one of the most
visited attractions of Mauritius Island. There has a huge statue
which has been built at Grand Bassin and is the tallest one on
the island. The statue is known as Mangal Mahadev. |
