Port Louis is
the city of textile. There are streets where you have shops
selling only textile products as cloth each after the other. In
the past, Port Louis the capital city of Mauritius, was the
place where all the retailers from the island used to go make
their shopping for their commerce. This is why in a large number
of towns in Mauritius shops are closed the Thursday afternoon,
it was the day all the retailers went to Port Louis city to buy
things needed, it is not anymore the case now. Most of the
wholesalers were found in Port Louis at this time. Long time ago
the way of transport in the island was horses or trains so that
is why they need the whole afternoon to travel to the capital
city. Mauritius has modernised a lot since this period but there
are still poor people and still people living without
electricity and water. |
