Medine sugar factory is located
on a big estate where there is also a rum distillery. During the
harvest time there is a large number of big lorries travelling
from the sugar plantations to the sugar estate to bring the cane
which will be transformed in sugar and the bagasse in rum. Rum
is one of well known drink on Mauritius Island. The Mauritian
are used to drink rum pure but it is has high percentage of
alcohol in it. There are cocktails which can be done with the
rum which taste very good. For example you take a glass, pour
some rum in it, press one o two fresh lemon in it, add some
sugar and crushed ice and it is a great drink in summer but
don’t abuse from it.
