In Mauritius Island is celebrated
each year the Maha Shivaratri where there is a pilgrimage in
honour of the Lord Shiva. The pilgrims walk from their home to
Grand Bassin to pray their Lord Shiva in a temple which has been
built in honour of Shiva. In India the same celebrated is done
too around the same period every year. But the Hindus from
Mauritius also visit the place at any time of the year to pray
Shiva and other Hindu deities where their statues can be also
seen at Grand Bassin. The lake has been declared sacred a few
years ago and it is said to have a connection with the Ganges
river in India. Grand Bassin is also one of the main attractions
of Mauritius Island. |
