The most practiced religion in
Mauritius is Hinduism, the belief of the Mauritian in Hinduism
is seen everywhere as at Grand Bassin. There is a lake which has
been considered sacred a few years ago and is the most important
place for the Hindus. Maha Shivaratri is celebrated in Mauritius
every year as in India. During this special period the pilgrims
walk from their own home, which can be located in any part of
Mauritius, to the sacred lake to honour the Lord Shiva one of
the Hindu deities. Grand Bassin has had a lot of renovation
since the last years in consideration for the prayers and the
tourist, so that the place looks nicer. Usually there is a large
of monkeys that can be seen at Grand Bassin just because of the
offers that are given to gods, it is easy food for the monkeys. |
