There is a lot
of Mauritian who likes to go to the Port Louis market to make
their shopping because of the large variety of vegetables and
fruits offered. Typical vegetable is potato, onion and ginger.
Ginger is used in almost every dishes Mauritian cook. Ginger has
a particular taste but when it is crushed in food it is
different. Chinese use a lot of ginger in different dishes. In
Port Louis not far from the market you can visit the China Town,
where are found Chinese products and restaurants and of course a
large number of the Chinese community live in this area.
