The telecom tower where is
located the head office of Telecom Mauritius is located in the
centre of Port Louis, the capital city of Mauritius. Not so long
ago Telecom had the monopoly in the island and the costs of
telecommunication were quite including internet services. Since
the rules changed and other telecommunications companies were
able to make business in Mauritius and offer their services, the
Mauritius Telecom needed to revise their high prices. Mauritius
Telecom was established in 1992, France Telecom has 40% of the
MT and the rest 60% is shared is held by the State Bank, the
Mauritian government, employees of Mauritius telecom and the
National Pension Funds. There has been a lot of improvement in
Mauritius Telecom as internet services but still not very high
connection and the quality is not that good. |
