The royal palm can be seen in the
Pamplemousses botanical garden which is located in the northern
part of Mauritius Island close to the capital city, Port Louis.
The botanical garden is one of the most visited gardens of the
island. The royal palm is a palm tree usually found in tropical
areas as in Mauritius. The royal palm is native to the
Caribbean. The scientific name of the royal palm is roystonea,
there are different species of royal palm. This palm tree is
very high when it is grown up, you can observe it on the above
picture. Even that they are mostly found in tropical island
where it is quite warm, the palm likes water. Depending of the
region they are found the royal palms adapt themselves to their
