Om namah shivaya is said by the
Hindus when they worship the famous Lord Shiva. Shiva is one of
the most worshipped gods in Hinduism which has also different
incarnations. On the picture you can see the sign OM pronounced
as AUM, most of the prayers in Hinduism starts with OM or when
the prayers ask for help they start with OM. At Grand Bassin
there has been a temple built for Lord Shiva and every year
Mauritian celebrate the Maha Shivaratri, a few days before the
celebration the pilgrims walk from their home to the sacred lake
in honor of Shiva. The Grand Bassin Lake is one of the most
visited places in Mauritius Island. To the Hindu community the
Grand Bassin Lake is sacred and a very important place where
they can pray the different Indian deities.
