As in Medine sugar estate the
other factories of the island produces rum. In Medine estate
there is a distillery which is open to visitors where they see
how rum is produced and left in casks to mature. Rum is produced
from sugar cane bagasse. There are hundreds of casks in Medine
distillery all numbered and left to be matured. Rum is not only
produced in Mauritius but in other countries of the world. In
Mauritius there is two types of rhum produced, the agricultural
rum and the industrial rum. The industrial rum is more produced
than the agricultural one. You can’t miss to try the Mauritian
rum while being in holidays on the island. |
