Mauritius by Theresa Rebeck

Theatre. The last representation was on November 25, 2007.
This play represented the
author’s debut on Broadway. The actors playing in Mauritius by Theresa
Rebeck are: Alison Pill as Jackie, Katie Finneran as Mary, Dylan Baker

The director of the play is
Marie Maginity. At one simple look, the play is about a stamp collection
thought to worth a lot of money. |
|
|
The stamp collection is inherited by two sisters,
after their mother’s death. They have to take a
decision regarding this precious collection of
stamps and some guys that are willing to help them
initiate a ride that is funny, scary from time to
time and exciting.
The characters are trying to gain the eventual
rewards and you can never say who is leading the
ride. Mauritius by Theresa Rebeck can be described
as disturbing, intriguing, taut, clever and
entertaining, made of lies, vendetta, intrigues,
twists without expectations, complexity of the
family, information as well as disinformation. The
two sisters are the main characters, as well as the
philatelists willing to have the rare stamps.
Mauritius by Theresa Rebeck is a thriller, comedy
and a drama in the same time and the title is
related to the Indian Ocean’s island popular for the
world’s two rarest stamps:

Twopence
Blue and Office Post Penny Orange. The play wants to
show that the family, love and money can be the
connection between people that behave badly and that
the stamp collection can be a fatal hobby. At its

Rebeck has a huge success and the Westport Community
Theatre was delighted to present the play in
Fairfield County.
