The Mauritius fruit bat is
endemic to Mauritius; the picture above has been taken in the
Casela Bird Park located in the Black River district in the
western part of Mauritius Island. There is even a restaurant in
Mauritius where you can eat bats. The bat is also known as
Mauritian flying fox or Pteropus niger. The Mauritian fruit bat has
a golden fur and its wingspan can attain eighty cms. The
Mauritian fruit bats can also be seen within the national parks
of Bel Ombre, Combo and Black River. |
