Mahalakshmi or Lakshmi as often
called is seen in the different temples at Grand Bassin. Lakshmi
is one of the Hindu goddess which worshipped by a lot of Indians
in Mauritius. Mahalakshmi is considered as the goddess of luck,
fertility, love, the lotus flower, beauty and wealth. Lakshmi is
represented in Buddhist and Jain monuments. Mahalakshmi is alo
the consort of Vishnu ans is married to his incarnation Rama.
Grand Bassin is a sacred lake in Mauritius where every year a
pilgrimage is done in honor of the god Shiva. The pilgrims in
Mauritius walk from their home to the temple Grand Bassin and
few days before Maha Shivaratree. On this particular day the
Hindu from Mauritius worship main the God Shiva but also other
gods and goddess. The place is one the main attractions of
Mauritius Island.
