The macaque is the only monkey
species found in wild areas of Mauritius. They are often used as
pets. The macaques can be seen while walking near forested
areas. When going to Grand Bassin, a sacred lake, in Mauritius
Island there is a lot of macaque that can be seen. The reason is
that when the Mauritian Hindus of the island make offers they
brings usually bananas and coconuts, the monkeys can easily feed
themselves. The macaques are genus of the old world monkeys.
