Hinduism is one of the most practiced religions in Mauritius and also in the world. Actually Hinduism is known as the third largest religion in the world and is also one of the oldest religions still practiced. The picture above has been taken at Grand Bassin, a sacred lake in Mauritius. You can see the sign OM on the photo above. Almost all Indian prayers start with OM which is pronounced as AUM. In Mauritius there is a large number of Hindu practicing Hinduism but there also catholic Hindus. The sacred lake Grand Bassin is the one of the most visited attractions in Mauritius. The lake has been declared sacred not so long ago exactly since 1998. Hinduism is a quite complicated religion if it can be said like that, there is a large number of deities in the Hindu belief but a lot take different forms but are the same gods.
