When going to Grand Bay in the
north part of Mauritius, you can admire small islands
surrounding the northern coast. Ile Ronde is an uninhabited
island having an area of over a square kilometre. Ile Ronde is
mainly a nature reserve which is controlled by the Ministry of
Agriculture and Natural Resources. On Round Island are found
rare reptiles endemic to the island, Round island boa and round
island day gecko are also living on the island. There are near
the northern coast of Mauritius a large number of small islands
comparing to other parts of the Mauritian coast. |
