The Grand Bassin tour is
organised by the different travel agents of Mauritius Island.
Grand Bassin or Ganga Talao is one of the main attractions of
the island. The lake which is seen at Grand Bassin has been
declared as sacred since 1998. For the Hindu community it is a
holy place where they can pray their different gods as Shiva,
Hanuman, the god with a monkey head and a human body. The Shiva
statue seen here on the picture has been donated by Dinesh
Patidar and Dungarpur Rajastan Family to the Dayal Family in
April 2005. Shiva is one of the main deities in Hinduism and one
of the six primary forms of the Divine in the Smartism. The
other five deities belong to Shakti, Vishnu, Surya, Kartikkeya
and Ganesha. The Sanskrit word Shiva or Shivam means gracious,
kind, auspicious or friendly. On Shiva’s right hand you see the
sign OM, around his head and neck a snake. |
