Pamplemousses is a village and a
well known garden in the north of Mauritius Island. It is a huge
garden with load of old trees, plants and animals. It was also
in the past the garden where was located the house of Mahe de
Labourdonnais. Each small avenue in the garden has a name.
Epinay Avenue is one of the names which have been given to one
of the numerous avenues found in the huge garden. The official
of the botanical which has been given in 1988 is Sir Seewoosagur
Ramgoolam Garden, the name was given in honour of this man who
was once the Prime Minister of Mauritius and who brought the
country to independence. Mahe de Labourdonnais was the governor
of the island called Ile de France during the French
colonisation of Mauritius. The property was known as Jardin de
Mon Plaisir. |
