This is a picture of Curepipe city. There is in Curepipe a large number of shops, it is one of the town of Mauritius well known for shopping. Curepipe is well known for ship model boutiques. Here are some shopping areas and attractions you can visit while being in Curepipe, the salaffa arcade, the Manhattan complex, courts, trou aux cerfs, the casino, the botanical gardens, and the market place. Curepipe was in past a place where the French settlers liked to live as it reminded them of their country because of the temperate climate this area had. One of the neighboring villages was even named Nouvelle France during their settlement in this part of the island, which translated in English means New France. Mauritius is not big but there is so much to see in every town and villages. The population of Mauritius is a melting pot of different cultures. There is nowadays a population of over one million in Mauritius Island. Mauritius has been before under the rule of the French and English and is now a republic since 1992 and got its independence in 1968.
