This is a
picture of the Cathedral of Port Louis in Mauritius Island. The
exact name of the cathedral is St Louis. But all Mauritian knows
it as “cathedral Port Louis”. You can see on the picture, the
inside of the cathedral. Lot of Christians from Mauritius who
come in Port Louis for some shopping will go visit the church
and pray for some minutes. The Saint Louis Cathedral was built
as it is nowadays in 1933, but in the past the building was the
first church constructed in Mauritius, this was in 1752 and was
used by the French colonial authorities. The cathedral is a
gothic style and is a catholic church. Catholic Mauritian prays
a lot and most of them go the church every Sunday morning. Going
to the church Sunday morning is as a tradition for the
Christians of the island. There are a large number of churches
and chapels found on different part of the island. |
