This part of
the Port Louis market is where vegetables are sold; here you can
see chouchou and cucumber. Chouchou is a vegetable that is quite
cheap has a green color and grows almost everywhere in Mauritius
but mainly in cooler areas as Curepipe. The price is between Rs2
to Rs5 depending of the season. The taste is good a bit sweet
sometimes, it can be used in different was and mixed with other
vegetables. In Mauritius there is a lot of white cucumber which
is bigger than the English cucumber and is not green. Vegetable
in Mauritius is usually not too expensive compared to other
countries. But for Mauritian who doesn’t earn a big salary it is
quite a lot. |
