In the Casela Bird Park there is lake where you can sit nearby and watch black swans swim around. The binomial name of the black swan is Cygnus atratus. When talking about swan people think always white, but as you see there are also black swans. The black swan breeding area is mainly in the southeast and southwest regions of Australia. A male swan is called con and a female is known as pen and a young swan is known as cygnet. The feathers of black swans are mostly black with some white feathers here and there. The population of black swans in the world is estimated at around 500.000, no extinction has been recorded.
