Port Louis is the busiest and
also the capital city of Mauritius Island. It is the city where
most of the wholesalers are located. One of the main tourist
attractions of the city is, the Port Louis market, almost
everything can be found on the market. In Port Louis market,
rice can be sold in small quantities. Basmati rice is now cooked
by almost all Mauritian but there are still poor people cooking
the cheap rice which is known in Mauritius as dog rice, just
because it used as dog food. But in the past almost all
Mauritian cooked the cheap rice known also as “du riz ration”.
Basmati rice is thinner than the cheap rice and has a better
taste. Rice is eaten everyday by almost all Mauritian with
vegetables, grains or meat. |
