The Bank of

The bank has been founded in 1967 and took as model the Bank of
England. The Bank of Mauritius is also the bank that issues the
Mauritian currency, the Mauritian rupee.. The first Bank of
Mauritius which opened around the year 1813 but held only until
1825. The headquarters of the Bank of Mauritius is located in
the capital city of the island. There are also other banks in
the island as the Mauritius Commercial Bank, the State Bank,
Barclays Bank, Deutsche Bank and offshore bank, HSBC Bank.
