The Australian
pigeon native from Australia is also known as the crested
pigeon, they mainly seen in Australia. The crested pigeon and
the spinifex pigeon are the two only Australian pigeon species
having an erect crest. In Mauritius you can find some of the
Australian pigeons in the Casela Park. The crested pigeon can
attain a length of thirty forty, their usual colour are grey to
brown. The habitat of the Australian pigeons is brush areas and
grasslands but are also seen near pastoral areas, at
watercourses and sports grounds. In the Casela Park are seen
other bird species and other animals as tigers, tortoises and
monkeys. The food of the crested pigeons is mainly native seeds
and sometimes, crops, insects and leaves. |
